Hills For Everyone; Friends of Harbors, Beaches and Parks; Orange County Coastkeeper; and Endangered Habitats League collaborated to negotiate a conservation program into the Orange County Transportation Authority’s Renewed Measure M. Instead of spending money in a piecemeal fashion, conservation groups took it to the next level and asked the Authority to spend it comprehensively—on large scale acquisition and restoration projects. This past weekend staff from Hills For Everyone went to the Wind Wolves Preserve off Maricopa Highway. The Preserve is 93,000 acres in the San Emigdio Mountains adjacent to the Los Padres National Forest. The property was protected several decades ago by The Wildlands Conservancy. Wildlands was founded by Dave Myers. About 20 years before that, Dave also founded Hills For Everyone and Chino Hills State Park.
