Hills For Everyone has created an interactive map for the public to view and engage with.
Visitors, on the left, can turn data layers on and off by clicking the “eye” on or off (off shows with a slash through it). As layers are turned on, they show up in the Map Legend on the right side of the map.
Defined Terms:
- Protected Lands (Public) – Lands durably protected by a public agency.
- Protected Lands (Private) – Lands protected by a non-public agency (i.e. non-profit or homeowners’ association).
- Missing Middle – The ownerships that connect the protected lands on the western side and eastern side of the Puente-Chino Hills Wildlife Corridor. Some of these lands are in private ownership; others are publicly owned, but not protected; and the last is in a joint powers authority ownership.
- Potential Conservation Additions – Lands that have been identified as an opportunity for conservation acquisition.
- Other Lands – These are utility easements, cemeteries, and landfills.
- Approved and/or Under Construction – These are properties currently under threat, are converting to more urban uses, and/or have been entitled for development but are not yet built.
