From Chino Hills State Park staff: Still getting reports of mountain lion sightings in and near Chino Hills State Park. These predators roam miles through vast territories and are an essential element in the food chain and health of the ecosystem. Be alert and aware while enjoying the park! You can obtain more information on mountain lions on the California Department of Fish and Wildlife website.
ALERT: The Goldspotted Oak Borer (GSOB) has been discovered in approximately 30 trees at Weir Canyon in northern Orange County. The trees are on regional park/reserve land but within a mile of homes. What can you do to prevent the spread? Do not buy or bring in firewood from other counties. Keep it local. This pest is killing our trees and it is because it is being carried across county lines by people… helping it spread.
Fires, steep hillsides, and rain — a recipe for trouble? The 91 Freeway was closed this morning due to a mudslide that spanned all eastbound lanes. Reports indicate the mud came from the unstable burn areas (of Chino Hills State Park).
