Supervisors Deal Big Blow to Esperanza Hills Project

Under the leadership of Supervisor Todd Spitzer, the Board of Supervisors, dealt a significant blow to the Esperanza Hills project at the March 10th meeting. The developer failed to get permissions to build the project. Rather, he was instructed to work with the City of Yorba Linda to comply with the City’s higher standards. Esperanza Hills Moves to OC Supervisors

The Orange County Planning Commission, consisting of five members representing each of the five Supervisorial Districts in the County, considered an application by Esperanza Hills developers to build 340 homes in the foothills above Yorba Linda. After over two hours of public comment opposing the Esperanza Hills project, the Planning Commission voted unanimously that the project and the environmental documents were sufficient to recommend approval to the Board of Supervisors. Hills For Everyone has guided the resident’s group, Protect Our Homes and Hills. This group worked with North County BRS (the project applicant) for the Cielo Vista project and signed a settlement agreement that resulted in reducing the project impacts and saving 40 acres of land. Esperanza Hills Decision Delayed

Rules about government conduct were created to ensure the public had access to information and were properly noticed about meetings and decisions. The County Planning Commission was meant to review and recommend approval of the Esperanza Hills project above Yorba Linda.
