What began as volunteer service in the late 1970s grew into a distinguished career leading Hills For Everyone as its Executive Director. Claire Schlotterbeck will retire at the end of 2026. Join us in celebrating the incomparable Claire, her many achievements, and her legacy at an outdoor event on Saturday, October 10th from 4-7 pm.

The County of Orange decided to spend public tax dollars on a road widening project in unincorporated territory near the City of Brea. The County proposed to widen the two lane rural road into four lanes. This would not only have encouraged development of a beautiful hillside area, but it would also make it harder for wildlife like deer and bobcats to safely move across the widened road. Landfill Expansion Defeat

The County of Orange operates landfills throughout the County. One of those landfills lies next to the City of Brea. In the mid 1970s Brea proposed the 1,100 acre Brea Olinda Wilderness Park extending from the landfill across the hills to a small community called Olinda Village. Funding to protect the land was initially secured and then lost. In its place, the County then proposed expanding the landfill across the same hills and canyons.
