The Board of Supervisors complied with part of the Judge’s order: rescinding all the approvals and entitlements of the Esperanza Hills project. After a long discussion amongst the Board members. The Board was considering holding Cielo Vista’s approvals hostage so that they could force Cielo Vista to sell an easement to Esperanza Hills! Supervisor Nelson pointed out that government had no business forcing private party agreements. In the end, it came down to Third District Supervisor Todd Spitzer reaffirming his … Read More

Esperanza Hills Moving Forward

The Orange County Subdivision Commission recommended approval of the changes to the Vesting Tentative Tract Map for the proposed Esperanza Hills project.  Residents sued the County of Orange and developer in July 2015.  In late June 2016, the court ruled that the project’s Greenhouse Gas analysis was inadequate and it’s mitigation was deferred.  He ordered the County to overturn the project’s approvals and environmental documents, which they have yet to do. The developer is now proposing a single entrance into … Read More

The Orange County Planning Commission voted in March to recommend approval of the 83-unit Cielo Vista project.  This means the Environmental Impact Report and project goes before the Board of Supervisors, likely in late April.  Yorba Linda residents continue to fight this and the Esperanza Hills project through a resident-based group called Protect Our Homes and Hills.
