LA County Approves SEAs

with No Comments

Yesterday, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved revisions to the Significant Ecological Area designations. These SEAs as they are called provide additional protections to biologically sensitive lands throughout LA County. Most of the Aera Energy lands, the Missing Middle of the Puente-Chino Hills Wildlife Corridor, are now in an SEA. Thanks to the Supervisors and staff for making this happen. And, Hills For Everyone was proud to support it.

Ventura Wildlife Corridor Ordinance Passed

A new wildlife corridor ordinance was passed in Ventura County. It is in times like these that we can point to policies and say… “look it has been done before, this isn’t something new.” Sometimes it is hard to lead the way–so a big shout out to the Ventura Board of Supervisors for this approach for our wildlife. NOTE: We anticipate this to be the date of the hearing on Esperanza Hills, but it won’t be confirmed until 10 days prior to the meeting (by September 15). We will also request a time certain for this agenda item and will update this post when we have it.

Esperanza Hills Overturned Again

We are proud to have been a part of this effort. Clearly based on these comments, Supervisor Do has already affirmed it will be approved again–and there is more to do. So without reviewing the new information, Supervisor Do has already made up his mind. This was a disgusting display by Orange County leadership. Thank you Supervisor Todd Spitzer for representing your constituents and understanding the issues. Read the Voice of OC article.

Fire Season is Here

The recent local fires serve as a reminder of what it takes to defend properties in fire prone areas. Orange County has twice approved the Esperanza Hills project and residents with Protect Our Homes and Hills, under guidance from Hills For Everyone, have twice won in court. The project must be overturned a second time by the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
