We were honored to participate in a reception to introduce Southern California conservation non-profits to the new Secretary of Natural Resources Wade Crowfoot. The Natural Resources Agency oversees the California Department of Parks and Recreation. It was a beautiful evening among friends at the Los Angeles State Historic Park.
Time for another flower photo… in honor of all the (non-native) yellow we are seeing on the hills, here is a California native: California golden violet. Looks like a pansy, eh?

Even though it is April Fool’s Day… this is a friendly reminder that snakes are NO joke. This striped racer (California Whipsnake) was in Sycamore Canyon yesterday. The snake was holding on to the tree with its tail high and face low. This poor lizard was lunch.
