What is in store for the 2,450 acre Tres Hermanos ranch? That’s the question asked by the Los Angeles Times in this article. The Cities of Industry, Diamond Bar, Chino Hills, and now Commerce, are battling for the answer. Hills For Everyone Executive Director Claire Schlotterbeck acknowledged the biological diversity of the site isn’t well known because the land has been protected with armed guards at the gates and on patrol since 1978. Freeway Complex Fire Map

On November 15, 2008 two fires started on opposite ends of the hills about two hours apart. The first fire ignited near the 91 Freeway on the eastern side of the hills in Corona by an automobile exhaust catching dry brush on fire, while the second fire began nearly 11 miles away to the northwest, in Brea, due to an unmaintained power line that also ignited dry brush.
