This Biodiversity Week we celebrate the web of life, which is made up of all the living and non-living things in an ecosystem. The web of life shows how interconnected nature is. For example, worms may help decompose organic matter in the soil. The worm helps the soil, but also feeds the birds. The birds spread plant seeds, which grow grasses for other animals to eat. If the grasses die, the animals dependent on the grasses die too. When one thing goes missing from the web of life, there is a ripple effect felt throughout the ecosystem.
