In the early days of both preserving Chino Hills State Park and forming the nonprofit, Hills For Everyone (HFE), we took on Southern California Edison when it proposed to expand its powerlines through land that had not yet become Chino Hills State Park. Instead of backing down, HFE Founder Dave Myers, challenged Edison’s proposal with a legal petition. We reached a settlement agreement with Edison, where in about 10 miles of obsolete powerlines in the State Park were to be removed. But, the removal never happened.

Fast forward 40 years or so when SoCal Edison was building its Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project. Attention was finally paid to the old agreement. The moment was ripe for Edison to finally fulfill this obligation from 1982 and the power lines and towers finally came down.
