The County of Riverside is in the process of writing an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for an off road vehicle raceway next to Chino Hills State Park near the 71 and 91 freeways. The project site comprises ~163 acres and consists of nine racetracks for varying ages and expertise levels, sites for car and RV parking, concession stands, restrooms, seating, an operations office, eight desilting basins for drainage, and the ongoing sand extraction and mine reclamation. Between the noise, the dust, and the likely illegal spillover of off roading into parkland, we cannot think of a worse neighbor to a State Park than this project. The EIR is due out later this year. The land is not only part of the Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan area, but also is a planned linkage between the State Park and the Prado Basin.
