Bob the cat… or bobcat. We saw you in Chino Hills State Park today. Your silence walking through the brush was amazing.

This is fitting considering our post from yesterday. This Santa Monica Mountains cougar (P-61) managed to cross the 405 freeway near the Sepulveda Pass between 2 and 4 AM on July 19th. Go P-61! Fingers crossed at some point in the future, our wildlife will be able to safely cross our roadways with overpasses/culverts because we’ve planned them better. The risk is death. Glad he made it! #P61 #TheLegend Read the Patch article.
Did you know that roads—across the United States—kill more than one million animals PER DAY? This only includes animals found immediately adjacent to the road—not the ones that manage to crawl off the side of the road and die elsewhere. That’s one reason why wildlife underpasses and overpasses are so important—they reduce animal-vehicle collisions. Next time (and every time) you are on the road be sure to scan the sides so you can avoid an animal darting out!
It’s August and that means the Persied Meteor Showers are here. Check out this Skywatch tip from NASA to get the details.
