Each winter and spring, volunteers fan out across the West to count monarch butterflies. Sadly the numbers remain far below historic levels. Recent counts along the California coast show populations hovering near record lows, a warning sign for this iconic migrator. Yet, there is hope when people act. Milkweed Spotted

On a recent trip to Chino Hills State Park, we found milkweed. This is the first time in decades that we’ve seen this plant in the Park. We have historic photos of milkweed (photo shown left) and now this new one (photo shown right). Why is it important you ask?
