We’ve been working hard on the 30×30 campaign to ensure our area is NOT ignored. 30×30 sets a statewide goal to protect 30% of California’s landscapes and coastal waters by 2030. So, how many acres do you think have already been protected statewide based on the first ownership analysis? A. 14.7 million acres B. 23.1 million acres C. 29.5 million acres D. 32.6 million acres (The prize is knowing your conservation baseline and great self esteem!)

This video captures some of the highlights of our work from 2020 including acquisition and conservation of 320 acres, PowerPoint presentations, support of the Chino Hills State Park Trail Plan, and legislation to save raptors and owls from rat poison. 30 by 30 Campaign

Yesterday we participated in a virtual workshop put on by the state that will use Nature Based Solutions to meet California’s climate goals and the Governor’s goal of protecting 30% of our lands and waters by 2030. Nature Based Solutions include: land acquisition, restoration, adding trees in urban areas, etc. We have received grant funding to be engaged in the 30×30 campaign for SoCal–and yes, we have big plans for 2021. Big news from the State of California as Governor Newsom proposes protecting 30% of California lands and coast by 2030. Dubbed the 30 by 30 campaign, Newsom mentioned focusing on California natural history and legacy of open space. Early indications are that these goals will not conflict with the state’s housing crisis/affordable housing goals and that we will be able to meet both objectives.
