As our parks and beaches begin to reopen, remember to keep your distance and wear your mask as you pass by others. Check out this great video by the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. On the great news front… The bill we’ve partnered on (AB 2021) with Assemblyman Phillip Chen made it through its first committee (Assembly Water, Parks, and Wildlife) yesterday on consent. It is now scheduled to go to Assembly Appropriations. Keep your fingers crossed! (Photo: An electronic notification from the California Legislative Information system stating that AB 2021 was passed and will move onto Appropriations.)
While this is well outside the Puente-Chino Hills Wildlife Corridor… this is a great illustration of the agility, balance, and jumping capacity of bobcats. Did you know that bobcats can jump several meters from a standstill? (~12 feet) This bobcat was trying to avoid getting wet, but certainly made the jump, landing, and future hops look easy.
