The early rains we all received in October seem to have given the poppies quite a boost. Word has it California poppies really like early rains, so they are on their way to a big bloom. They are already showing up in Chino Hills State Park. In fact, it looks like quite a season of growth lies ahead for all wildflowers. Mustard, our ubiquitous invasive, is already knee high. The continued warm weather will further boost the bloom.
As usual, when you visit the flower fields, please stay on the trail rather than sprawl out in a flower field. Damaging this year’s poppies damages next year’s bloom. Don’t doom the bloom. 🌻
