Camping Tips 4 of 5: Know if you are allowed to have a campfire and if so what type of fire is allowed (wood, charcoal, gas). Before you camp obtain a California campfire permit. Know that collecting vegetation, leaves and wood from any park is not allowed. In fact buy your wood where you burn it. This keeps bugs out of new areas and limits the spread of harmful pests.
