The bad news: Our trees are dying and the worst is yet to come. From the drought to insect infestations to mold—the once stressed trees are now dying suddenly. The state has identified more than 70 million trees that are dead. This is a significant fire hazard. Hills For Everyone has been involved with the Carbon Canyon Fire Safe Council to ensure our homes and wildlands are protected from wildfires. Tree mortality has been at the top of the list. Let’s hope that things turn around for our trees—they are important to our wildlands, our homes, our quality of life, and our wildlife.
