Esperanza Hills Moving Forward

The Orange County Subdivision Commission recommended approval of the changes to the Vesting Tentative Tract Map for the proposed Esperanza Hills project. Residents sued the County of Orange and developer in July 2015. In late June 2016, the court ruled that the project’s Greenhouse Gas analysis was inadequate and it’s mitigation was deferred. Remembering the 2008 Freeway Fire

Let us not forget the significance of November 15, 2008. Eight years ago today the Freeway Complex Fire raced through four counties and burned over 30,000 acres right here where we all live. Ninety-five percent of Chino Hills State Park was burned. Over 300 homes were damaged or destroyed. The fire taught us many lessons, let’s hope these lessons still resonate with elected officials when making policy decisions near our wildlands. Public safety is paramount.

Prop A Passes in LA County

Hills For Everyone is pleased to report that Proposition A (the Safe, Clean Neighborhood Parks, Open Space, Beaches, Rivers Protection, and Water Conservation Measure) was passed with 73% of the vote in Los Angeles County. This measure replaces expiring local funding for parks, open spaces, community centers, clean drinking water, beach/river protection and conservation of natural lands. The measure included a 1.5 cent tax per square foot of improved property in Los Angeles County.

OC Bike Loop Meeting

Jeff Yann of Hacienda Heights Passed

We are reeling from the sudden loss a dear friend to the cause of protecting our region. Jeff Yann, a deeply engaged activist from Hacienda Heights died in a snorkeling accident in Hawaii. A longtime leader in the Sierra Club, Jeff also served on the Advisory Board to the Wildlife Corridor Conservation Authority.
