It’s been one week since the Southern California mountain lion (aka cougars) have been listed as a California threatened species. Now, cougars in our area have more protections than before. These elusive cats are very important to maintaining the health of the ecosystem.
California may soon grant long-overdue protection to mountain lions (also called cougars) in the Central Coast and Southern California, as the Department of Fish and Wildlife has recommended listing them as Threatened under the state’s Endangered Species Act.
