New Preserve Name Revealed

In 2011 The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) purchased the Hayashi property in Brea’s Carbon Canyon. It lies adjacent to Chino Hills State Park at the juncture of Soquel and Carbon Creeks. The land was purchased as mitigation for OCTA’s freeway projects. It is one of seven preserves recently renamed through a voting contest offered by OCTA. Rather than carry the name of the former landowners, the new preserves carry the name of a habitat value on the property. Hayashi’s 301 acres is now known as Eagle Ridge Preserve since golden eagles have been seen in the area.
