The City of Industry continues to consolidate its holdings in Tonner Canyon. In 2016, the City bought the last remaining 800 acres of the former Firestone Scout Reservation. In the purchase agreement it states the land was acquired as mitigation for a project. That “project” remains obscured by Industry’s lack of transparency, but from all accounts the City intends to develop a water reservoir and solar farm, requiring bulldozing of the entire canyon. Industry has yet to bring forth its offer to buy Tres Hermanos Ranch. You may recall the City’s Redevelopment Agency owns Tres Hermanos and the City itself wants to buy it in order to industrialize it.
