Supervisor Todd Spitzer penned this Op-Ed on the Canyon Fire 2 response. The response was delayed due to dispatch staff not following protocol on the 911 reports related to the vegetation fire. Check out the Orange County Register article.

Report Reveals Human Error in Fire Response

Interesting that multiple calls reporting the fire were dismissed. The same thing happened with the Freeway Complex Fire when area residents reported a second fire in Brea (not Corona). We hope the Orange County Fire Authority and California Highway Patrol train their personnel to respond according to protocol, so this doesn’t happen again. And, that they track red flag days better than they did for this fire. Check out the Orange County Register article.

Canyon Fire 2 Report Released

This news released at the Orange County Fire Authority Board meeting on the response to the Canyon 2 Fire is disturbing.
